The Township of Mayfield was founded on June 14, 1819. At that time the township consisted of Mayfield Village, Gates Mills, Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights and a small part of Lyndhurst. We were known as a township for nearly a century, then as the Village of Mayfield, today as Mayfield Village.
Visitors to Mayfield Village today will find that it still has much of the rustic charm of its early years. Mayfield Village has many fine residential neighborhoods graced with homes of various styles and spacious yards. The North Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks covers nearly one quarter of our 4.2 square mile Village.
